Blowing Up Boxes & Plugging Into Hope

Posted by Giana Consulting on Friday, June 1, 2012, In : Hope

Have you ever had someone make assumptions about you?   Assumptions that put you in a box that isolates, restricts and attempts to define you?

I despise boxes….  And labels….  And limits…  And to my dismay, I recently discovered that I was holding some assumptions that were putting others in boxes.  Ugh!

Here’s what happened.  A few weeks ago I volunteered to help out at a Career Fair.  Early in the day several vans arrived from Goodwill’s Training Program.  As the room fille...

What are your thoughts about creating organizational change?

Posted by Giana Consulting on Friday, April 27, 2012, In : Organizational Change

Ken Blanchard says there are 3 steps to creating change - Impacting knowledge, then attitude, then behavior.

My understanding of his concept is this:

My Grandfather was a WWII Battle of the Bulge Veteran and although his nature was to accept whatever life handed him and to move on, the memories of the brokenness & devastation that the war created left a shadow of questions that haunted him.

For years he did his best to cope, while raising a large family, and tending to a farm.  When his youngest Grandchildren started asking about the war he found some healing by sharing stories with family and fellow veterans, but the questions themsel...

Organizational Wholeness... Putting the pieces together

Posted by Giana Consulting on Sunday, January 23, 2011, In : Organizational Development

It is 2011 and most organizations are feeling intense pressure to cut budgets, maintain programming, keep morale up, and improve results.  …Across the board from government agencies to non-profits and from educators to business communities, stress is high and hope is low.

It is clear that doing the same things, the same ways, expecting different results is more than crazy.  …And just as clear that doing something different is risky and will challenge comfort zones.                     ...
